As of November 1, 2008 the following new AIBA rules will be followed.
Age Classification:
Age will be determined by year of birth not day of birth.
Senior – 1990 or lower
Junior – 1991 or 1992
Cadet C – 1993 or 1994
Cadet B – 1995 or 1996
Cadet A – 1997 or 1998
Weight Classification:
Senior & Junior Boxers
Male – 11 weight classifications
48kg, 51kg, 54kg, 57kg, 60kg, 64kg, 69kg, 75kg, 81kg, 91kg, 91+kg
Female – 11 weight classifications
46kg, 48kg, 51kg, 54kg, 57kg, 60kg, 64kg, 69kg, 75kg, 81kg, 81+kg
Cadet C Boxers
Male & Female – 13 weight classifications
46kg, 48kg, 50kg, 52kg, 54kg, 57kg, 60kg, 63kg, 66kg, 70kg, 75kg, 80kg, 80+kg
Duration and number of rounds:
Senior male – 3 rounds of 3 minutes each
Senior female – 4 rounds of 2 minutes each
Junior male – 4 rounds of 2 minutes each
Junior female – 3 rounds of 2 minutes each
Cadet C male – 3 rounds of 2 minutes each
Cadet C female – 3 rounds of 1.5 minutes each
For all above, the rest time between rounds is one (1) minute.
Beards and moustaches are NOT allowed.
RED colour mouth guards may NOT be worn.
RSC outscored has been eliminated, in other words the bout will not be stopped when there is a 20 point or 15 point difference.
