In April, Team Saskatchewan consisting of Thomas Gordon, Quinn Neald, Preston Lachance and Val Valenculiak competed at the Canadian Amateur Boxing Championships. Preston in his first National Championship drew what many considered the toughest opponent in his weight class and lost his first bout against a formidable opponent.
Val lost a close bout in a split decision prior to the medal round. Thomas Gordon competed very well and as he did last year, won the silver medal in the Junior C 70kg category. Quinn Neald the boxer with the least experience competed very well winning both his bouts to win Gold for Team Saskatchewan in the Junior C 81 kg category.
